When can I register for summer school?

Registration for summer school has been delayed until further notice. We suggest you register as soon as possible as we are expecting a high volume of students this year.


I am a HCDSB student, how do I register for summer school?

All HCDSB students will register through My Blueprint. Please take the time to ensure your email address is accurate as this is how you will be contacted. In order to complete your registration, your Guidance Counsellor must approve your course request. HCDSB REGISTRATION

I am not a HCDSB student, how do I register for summer school?

All non-HCDSB students register online through the Thomas Merton website. You need your Guidance Counsellor’s name and email address in order to register. Your Guidance Counsellor will receive a copy of your registration via email and they have to approve it. You are not registered until we receive an approval email from your Guidance Counsellor. You will be contacted by your Guidance Counsellor if there is a problem with your registration.

What is the deadline to register?

The deadline to register for summer school in June 24, 2021 at 4:00 pm.

No considerations will be made beyond this date.


I am a HCDSB student, how do I get the sign off sheet to my guidance counsellor?

The sign off sheet is no longer activated on MyBlueprint and is not necessary for approval. Your Guidance Counselor will approve it via email.


I am not a HCDSB student, how do I get my Guidance Counsellor’s approval?

Your Guidance Counsellor will receive a copy of your registration via email. He/she approves it by responding to the email with an ‘Approval’. If there is a problem with your registration i.e. you do not have the pre-requisite for the course you are registering for, they have been instructed to contact you. Please follow-up with your Guidance Counsellor to see if your registration has been approved.

I am not a HCDSB student, how do I send the registration form?

Registration is completed and submitted online through the Thomas Merton website.

I registered for the course and I have not received a confirmation. How do I know I am registered in the course?

Assume you are registered for the course unless otherwise notified by email. You will be notified by email only if the class is cancelled.

Will I receive information from my teacher prior to the start of the class?

Students register for online courses will receive a ‘Welcome Letter’ with login instructions prior to the course starting.

Can I contact the teacher prior to the start of the course?

No. Teachers are not assigned to a specific class until the first morning of class as enrolment numbers change drastically up until that time. You may only contact your teacher on the first day of scheduled classes.


How do I log into my online class?

You will receive a ‘Welcome Letter’ with login instructions prior to the course start date.


Can I start the course early?

No. The course is not available until the first day of class.


Is the course guaranteed to run?

No. Courses will be offered if there is sufficient enrollment and availability of qualified teaching staff.


Is there a cost?

No. There is no cost if you are a Canadian citizen or permanent resident living in Ontario.


I am an International student living in Ontario. Is there a cost?

Yes. Please contact the International Student Program department at the board office to make a payment.


What if my family is going on vacation?

You can go on vacation provided you have access to the internet every day.


Do I have to be on my computer from 8:00 am to 1:30 pm?

Please be advised that teachers will be available between the hours of 8:00 am to 1:30 pm. All lessons, assessments and academic assistance will be available during these hours. Your teacher will provide further information.


What if I have an IEP?

You must communicate this to your teacher on the first day with a copy for their review.


Does it matter if I use a MAC or PC?

No.


What should I do if I need to drop the course?

Email your teacher and nsregistration@hcdsb.org (Mail to: nsregistration @hcdsb.org) to inform us you are dropping the course.


What is the deadline to drop the course so it doesn’t show on my transcript?

The last day to drop the course without the mark showing up on your transcript is July 23, 2021.


Can I take Civics or Careers, or do I have to take both?

Yes, you can take one or the other or both.


Does an online credit count towards my diploma?

Yes. We suggest that you contact your post-secondary institution about their admission requirements.


Is there a final exam?

Final assessments will be communicated to students by the teacher.


Will there be a review day?

No. All days are instructional days and you can review any work with your teacher up to and including the last scheduled day of class on July 30th.


Will I get a final report card?

Yes. Your school will receive report cards electronically. Check with your school to ensure they received it.


Will I need a textbook?

No. Everything you need is online.


Can I take more than one course?

No. You can only be registered in one course.


How does my university/college get my mark?

If you are a HCDSB student, your mark will automatically be uploaded to OUAC/OCAS. Non-HCDSB students must discuss this with their home school.
